Interior Checks

  • Walk through each room of home
  • Check for damage inside home
  • Run water in all sinks, showers and tubs
  • Check under all sinks for leaking
  • Ensure that sink cabinet doors are left open to decrease risk of frozen pipes
  • Flush all toilets
  • Water plants
  • Check all doors and windows
  • Check for visual signs of leaking pipes
  • Visual check of water heater and furnace
  • Check refrigerator, freezer, ice maker and freezer chests
  • Check fireplace(s)
  • Assess for the presence of rodents and other pests
  • Check for signs of mold and mildew
  • Check circuit breaker box for tripped breakers
  • Check interior temperature and thermostat
  • Reset any clocks or timers as needed
  • Be aware of any unusual odors or smell of gas
  • Check for any fire hazards
  • Check hot tub for leaks or other issues
  • Check security system to ensure it is functioning
  • Adjust blinds and draperies as requested
  • Adjust timing lights and other lights as requested
  • Replace light bulbs as needed

Exterior Checks

  • Check that scheduled home services are being performed (ie. snowplowing, shoveling, lawn care, hot tub, propane refills)
  • Check perimeter of the home for signs of damage
  • Check for signs of vandalism or forced entry
  • Visually assess roof(s) for damage, heavy snow load and ice dams
  • Check for signs of damage to landscape
  • Check that utility markers are standing
  • Assess for the presence of rodents and other pests
  • Remove unwanted newspapers, circulars, etc.
  • Check garage for signs of unusual activity
  • Open garage door and run vehicle
  • Check propane level and report to company if low
  • Check for obvious damage to sprinkler system

Communication

  • Will send you an email from your home during each visit
  • Will attach to the email a copy of assessment report and identify any issues of concern
  • Will send you a photo of the exterior of your home
  • Will send a photo of any identified problem area

Freeze Watch

When temperatures dip below -20º F, daily home checks will be made to adjust thermostats as needed, assess for frozen pipes and make sure that the heating system is operating properly. Each homeowner has the option of accepting or declining the Freeze Watch service.
